Robot-exit will help promising new ideas

Science Ventures Denmark A / S has just sold its shares in the successful robot company Universal Robots. The investment has provided a good return allowing investment in 6-8 new Southern Danish high-tech start-ups.

Universal Robots is experiencing significant momentum in recent years and now stands at 26 employees at in Odense.
Revenue curve rises steeply. This year, sales have grown by 300 percent over last year. The robots are used for motorcycle production in India, car production in Germany and cosmetics production in Greece. But also local companies like  Scandinavian Tobacco Group in Assens and Tempur in Årup uses robots from Universal Robots.

Research based
The popular Funen robots had probably never been on the market if it were not for robotics research at the University of Southern Denmark. The highly flexible robots are namely based on the findings from the SDU and the university assigned its patents in return for shares held by Science Ventures Denmark A/S
